Glen Euchar House Reviews

Denise
We really enjoyed our stay my only quibble is that the sofa was too low & the shelves were too high
We had a fantastic family break at the house and grounds. The house is a bit remote but the weather was fantastic all week and the hot tub was a great success. Overall a great time was had by all, old and young.
The house was very well equipped, warm and comfortable. There was a little tlc needed in some areas e.g. skirting boards needed painting, and kitchen floor was a little bit tired, but generally we were very happy with the facilities. We would like to come back again some time.
As we have found out, in the past, Skye Holiday Cottages always exceed expectations. Superb!
A beautiful, warm, comfortable house set in stunning grounds. Very well equipped. Special thanks to Gordon for looking after us so well. We would def stay there again.
Highly recommend this property lovely setting so tranquil lovely house and ... Highly recommend this property lovely setting so tranquil lovely house and spacious and veiws and so peaceful oban only 15 min away
Lovely Property in spectacular surroundings , We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very sad to be home we will be back.
House is really well equipped and in a fantastic location in its own grounds. Only a short drive to Oban with access to the ferries and islands. We loved our stay and would definitely like to visit again. The local seafood was a major bonus for us
Beautiful house with great amenities. Kitchen is amazingly equipped. Really quiet location with gorgeous grounds and hot tub. Only negative really was that both single beds weren't great, bit lumpy mattresses. We were 4 adults sharing, so maybe would be OK for small children. Host great too, quick to respond to queries.
Wonderful, relaxing property set in its own quiet grounds. Felt as comfortable as home but with the addition of a private everready hot tub.
Been coming to holiday cottages in Scotland since I was a small child and, for the better part of 20 years, I haven't stayed in a property as well equipped and homely as this. Perfect.
Georgina
Highly recommend. Kids loved the grounds and we all loved the hot tub. Loved watching the bats at night. Gordon was lovely too.
Detlef
The arrival already felt like coming home. Furniture, mattresses and the pool had been renewed or replaced since our last stay. Gordon and Caraid did everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Furthermore, every effort was made to minimise any disruption caused by a severe storm. You can't expect or receive more friendliness, help and support. We are already looking forward to our next stay with friends.
2nd visit brilliant place great location
We loved the property and its location. We knew about the lack of internet prior to our arrival. Compensated, not a great problem. A little annoyed that Skye was intermittent. With horrendous weather no internet, Skye was essential rugby World Cup ! Loosing signal 3 4 times a day was annoying. Everything else was great. The cottage is perfect in all other aspects. Once the afore mentioned problems are resolved, it warrants a return visit.
Rachel
Fabulous holiday. Best equipped house we've ever stayed in. Grounds and got tub immaculate. So peaceful and quiet.
Lovely house and location. Brief issue with no hot water first morning but rectified by local caretaker somebody had turned off the boiler Could not get the TV to work. Caretaker fixed it on day 1 but it went south again almost immediately and we couldn't be bothered bringing the caretaker back. otherwise all good and would certainly return.
An amazing property in a fantastic location, ideal for exploring the beautiful ... An amazing property in a fantastic location, ideal for exploring the beautiful Scottish Highlands All the comforts of home and the hot tub was an added bonus, highly recommend
Lovely home in a beautiful quiet valley. The hot tub was a bonus and the weather was good for April. Gordon the house keeper and his dog Caraid were there to great us when we arrived and looked after us during our stay. Highly recommended you won't be disappointed.
Theresa
Lovely setting, wellequipped property. Wonderful hottub Great location for Oban, which we loved. Also being able to easily go further afield we loved our trip to Kerrera island. All helped by the most fantastic weather.
Annette
A very comfortable and spacious house in a wonderful location easy to get to Oban and the nearby countryside, yet away from the tourists in such very peaceful and green surroundings there was no farm machinerytraffic noise. Hot tub much appreciated. Gordon was very welcoming and the directions sent were easy to follow. I'd happily stay here again. 2 bathrooms was a bonus I got my own shower upstairs as the only person under 5 foot 4 that ceiling is rather low, but the downstairs shower is spacious and fits everybody It would be useful to have some instructions for the oven I had to google it to work out which knob was which and TVsound system took some working out. The wifi code is well hidden but couldn't defeat our teenagers. The wifi coped with boys and husband all on their laptops which I was impressed with given we were out in the countryside. The kitchen is well equipped but could do with some small side plates and a bread board2nd bigger chopping board. This house came top in our family competition to find the best equipped kitchen in a holiday cottage beating Jersey where we stayed last year by having a pizza cutter...
Only issue, and it is a common one in a lot of places, is the mattress in the smaller double bedroom, so much so that one of us slept in one of the single rooms. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the house, facilities and gardens were fantastic.
Samantha
Excellent property, lots of space for an extended family 2 teens, 2 parents & 2 grandparents in our case. Extremely clean & plenty of everything, from cutlery & cooking pans to towels & toilet paper. Wonderful location with extensive grounds, a private hot tub & access to the river which we did have a dip in! Lots to do in the local area Oban has everything you need & lots of shops, cafes & restaurants recommend the Potting Shed especially if you are GF. Ganavan Sands is a beautiful beach, Dunstaffnage Castle is a small but fascinating castle with spectacular views & McCaig's Tower is worth the steep climb. Amazing ice cream in the Pokey Hat too! Further afield Seafari boat trips & Easdale are both excellent as are the cairns & burial mounds at Kilmartin. A great base for the area & a bonus feature was the company of Gordon's dogs who are friendly & happy to chase balls all day!
Everything was perfect, location, heating, hot tub, sleeping, tv. amazing place to relax after working through the winter many thanks to Gordon
Bronwen
Lovely house in beautiful surroundings everything was great. Only thing I would suggest is a cover over the hot tub so you can use it in the rain. Everything else was excellent.
The house was fabulous,we found the hot tub great used a couple of times during our stay, could not fault anything. Gordon the caretaker was very helpful on arrival showing us around and how things worked the dogs were very friendly he was around the property regularly. Maybe only one thing the lighting to and around hot tub could be improved.
Glen Euchar House is set in an idyllic glen with the river Euchar flowing at the bottom of the garden. It is secluded and tranquil however Tesco deliver which certainly eases the stress after a long drive from Yorkshire. The kitchen is superbly designed and fully equipped with the exception of possibly a couple of chopping boards this is a minor niggle as I honestly thought that I had died and gone to kitchen heaven. Prepping food was a pleasure, the dishwasher was great too as was the washer. Drying was more of a chore and a tumble dryer would be appreciated due to the wet weather we encountered. Locally Oban is only 15 minutes drive away and you have Tesco, Aldi and Lidl to shop at. We did not eat out as I was far too busy cooking in that amazing kitchen!! If you intend going to Mull book in advance as we could not get on with the car also if you wish to go dolphin watching book in advance too as we were disappointed not to be able to go. The leather suite in the lounge is beginning to look a little tired and the electric recliners did not work. It is still comfortable however and the chair reclines manually. The TV and surround sound are great. The WiFi is useable but only around 6Mbps so dont expect too much. Also the BT home Hub 4 needs updating as it does not cover the whole house with black spots with no signal. The master bedroom floor creaks alarmingly on occasion and going to the Loo in the middle of the night is not a quiet affair!! The hot tub is great with room for 4 in perfect comfort, like some aspects of the house it is looking a little tired cosmetically however works fine and is luxurious! NB The hot tub is not close to the house and is 2 minutes walk across the lawn and down a few steps which is not a problem but would be better closer to the house in my opinion. Gordon Estate Manager was excellent and although about the estate daily was not intrusive on our tranquillity. In summary Fab accommodation in a lovely Glen in Scotland. Totally recommended
Jeanette
Lovely setting, house had every thing you could ask for. Hot tub was brilliant
Simone
Had a great 3 generation family holiday. The house was perfect with wonderful large grounds, children caught tiddlers in the river and loved the hot tub. The whole area is beautiful and had exciting boat trip with safari seeing loads of wildlife. Can't wait to return
Wonderful, peaceful, secluded setting in a breathtaking area of West Scotland. We had a fabulous week with our two boys, lots of activities, beaches, skimming stones and the hot tub was an added bonus. The house was well equipped but the mattresses could all do with being replaced, as could the sofas in the lounge. However the house was clean and spacious. Gordon the manager was very friendly but not obtrusive.
Sharon
This is a beautiful house to stay in and the grounds are remarkable. Gordon the caretaker does a fantastic job in maintaining these. The hot tub is old but in working order although be aware of the midges!! The walk down to the river is lovely. One of the most well equipped houses we have stayed in. Plenty of towels provided. Although there were two other lodges on the ground they are very well hidden and we did not feel as if anyone else was near us.
Stephen
We was not made aware that there was a lodge and a log cabin on the same site we thought we had complete seclusion
The house and grounds are breathtaking, peaceful and relaxing and it is very well stocked, particularly in the kitchen. Gordon the caretaker is lovely as is his sidekick Caraid, his black labrador. We loved our week there and hope to return. Really enjoyed the wildlife, especially seeing the bats at night and the hot tub was a bonus, what a place to relax looking at that valley
We cant praise this property enough everything was perfect and the owners were so lovely, we wouldnt hesitate to book again if we were in the area and would suggest if you are considering booking to def do it you wont be disappointed its absolutely fabulous.
Beautiful location. Well equipped kitchen and comfortable home. Hot tub great. Gordon the manager, was really helpful. The only suggestion I would make is to replace the mattress in the large double bed room. We really enjoyed this stay and will definitely return to the Highlands.
Beautiful house in lovely setting. Friendly greeting from Gordon on arrival and hewas on hand if needed. Would definitely recommend
